TripAssist ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application collects, uses, and safeguards your information.

🚨 Prominent Disclosure: Accessibility Services

TripAssist uses the Android AccessibilityService API.

We use this permission strictly to:

Detect when a rideshare offer appears on your screen.
Read the fare, distance, and time information from that specific offer card.
Calculate and display a profitability score overlay.

Privacy Promise: No personal user data, screen content outside of the rideshare apps, or sensitive information is transmitted to our servers. All screen processing happens locally on your device using Google ML Kit.

1. Information We Collect

A. Screen Data

To function, the app captures temporary screenshots of your screen when the Accessibility Service is active. These images are processed in real-time on your device to extract text (prices and distances). Once processed, the images are immediately discarded from memory unless you explicitly enable the "Save Screenshots" feature in settings.

B. Device Information

We may collect anonymous device identifiers (such as device model and OS version) to help us troubleshoot bugs and improve app performance via Firebase Crashlytics.

2. How We Use Your Data

To Provide the Service: We use the extracted text data to calculate the "Dollar-per-mile" and "Dollar-per-hour" scores.
Local Storage: If you enable "History" or "Screenshots," data is saved only to your device's internal storage. We do not have access to this data.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to ensure the app runs smoothly:

Google ML Kit: Used for on-device Text Recognition.
Google Firebase: Used for authentication and hosting this website.

4. Data Security

Since TripAssist processes sensitive screen data locally, your rideshare offer details never leave your phone. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the limited data we do handle (such as your account login).
